How to work with locked content (blocks)
Step 1: Locking a block
To lock a block in the editor, navigate to the block and click the settings icon. From the settings menu, enable the lock content and styling toggle.
Once locked, the block will be greyed out when hovered over, indicating that standard users can no longer edit it.
⚠️ Only premium users (admin, designer, publisher, editor) have the ability to lock and unlock blocks. Standard users will be notified that the block is locked, but they won't have access to the lock toggle.
Step 2: Unlocking a block
You unlock a block in the same way you lock one. In the block settings, disable the toggle and all editor users can edit the block.
Step 3: Working with locked blocks as a standard user
While standard users can't change the styling or copy of a locked block, they still have some control over how the block appears in the Foleon Doc:
- Visibility: Standard users can hide or unhide the block.
- Block order: They can move locked blocks within the Docs.
- Duplication: Locked blocks can be duplicated or copied to the clipboard.
Locked templates
In addition to locking blocks in the editor, you can lock a block in the template editor. Once locked, these blocks can be added to new or existing Docs, ensuring consistency across different projects.
Premium users have the ability to save locked blocks as templates, further enhancing efficiency when working with standardized content.
