Optimize your Doc's performance

As the final step of content creation, it's time to optimize your Foleon Doc to boost its performance. 🔥 Spoiler: content is never really finished. In this article, we help you optimize your Doc, increase its lifespan, and transform it into other content. 

Dive into the analytics

After putting time and effort into creating exceptional content, you’ll want to know how it's performing:

• How many people are reading your content?
• Was your content interesting enough?
• Did it lead them to take further action?

Your audience can provide a lot of valuable information. The only way to find out is to start measuring. 

There are two main analytics options to dive into: Foleon Analytics and Google Analytics. They both provide you with actionable insights into your content’s performance so you can improve your next piece.

Foleon Analytics

Our built-in Foleon Analytics gives you easy access to the most important metrics on your content’s performance. Foleon Analytics is active by default for all Foleon Docs. 

You can access these reports by clicking Foleon Analytics in the quick actions menu of any live Foleon Doc.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool offered by Google to help you analyze your website traffic. It’s the most widely used web analytics service on the web.

Once you’ve created an account (or have logged in to an existing account) and Google Analytics property, you can connect it to your Foleon project. In the project settings, scroll down to the Google Analytics tab.

Finetune your Foleon Doc

Based on insights from the analytics, you can adapt and refresh your Doc to make an even better impression. If readers were dropping off before the last few important sections, then perhaps it needs trimming. If the CTA wasn’t effective, try a different approach.

When analyzing the performance of your Foleon Doc, there are several key metrics and areas to focus on for improvement. Here's a guide to help you optimize your content based on widely used metrics:

• • Pageviews 👀
    Monitor the number of page views your content receives. If you notice a low number of views, consider the following improvements:

    • Promote your content through various channels such as social media, email newsletters, or external websites.
    • Optimize your content for search engines by using relevant keywords and improving your content's visibility in search results.

  • Time on page ⏰
    Assess how much time visitors spend on each page of your content. If the average time on page is low, try these strategies:

    • Make your content engaging and visually appealing with high-quality images, videos, and interactive elements.
    • Ensure your content is scannable and easy to read by using headings, subheadings, bullet points, and short paragraphs.
    • Include compelling and relevant content that keeps visitors interested and encourages them to spend more time consuming your material.
      
      

  • Bounce rate 🏀
    Bounce rate indicates the percentage of visitors who leave your content after viewing only one page. A high bounce rate may imply a lack of engagement or relevancy. To reduce bounce rate:

    • Improve your content's headline and introduction to capture visitors' attention and clearly communicate the value they'll receive.
    • Enhance the overall user experience by making navigation intuitive and ensuring fast page loading times.
    • Incorporate internal links within your content to encourage visitors to explore more pages and stay longer.
      
      

  • Click-through Rates (CTRs) 🐭
    If your content includes clickable elements like buttons or links, monitor the CTR in Google Analytics to gauge their effectiveness. To increase CTRs:

    • Use clear and actionable calls-to-action (CTAs) that guide users to take desired actions.
    • Experiment with different placement, design, and wording for your clickable elements to identify what resonates best with your audience.
      
      

  • Conversion rate 🔄
    If your content aims to drive specific actions (e.g., filling out a form, making a purchase), track the conversion rate. To optimize conversion rates:

    • Ensure your conversion process is simple and streamlined, minimizing the number of steps and eliminating any unnecessary fields or barriers.
    • Provide clear value propositions and benefits to persuade visitors to convert.
    • Test different variations of your conversion elements, such as form design, CTA placement, or offering incentives, to identify the most effective strategies.

    Identify the pages where visitors commonly exit your content. Analyze those pages to understand potential issues or areas for improvement, such as:
