When you’re ready to publish your Foleon Doc, it’s important to think about the level of access your audience has. In this article, we’ll talk about the different options for setting up access control.
💡 The access methods described in this article are not available to all plans. If you're interested in this functionality, contact our Customer Success Management team.

Where to find Access Control
Depending on your plan, we have different options for setting up access control. In the Foleon Doc settings, scroll down to find the Access control tab. We will discuss the different options below.
⚠️ If you decide to host your Foleon Docs on your own server — with a ZIP file — it's not possible to use the access control methods described in this article.
Username & password
With this option, you can set up a generic username and password combination that visitors will need to enter to be able to access the contents of your Foleon Doc.
You can use this for Foleon Docs that are only meant for colleagues, or for Foleon Docs that contain sensitive information.
⚠️ It's possible to use the same username and password for multiple Docs. However, we don't recommend this as it does make the login credentials less secure.
Allowlist by IP
Next to setting up a username & password login screen, you can also only give visitors on certain IP addresses access to a Foleon Doc. Click on "Add IP address" to add the addresses.
If you have added extra IP addresses, don't forget to republish your content. If a visitor whose IP address is not allowlisted tries to access a Foleon Doc, they’ll be prompted with a 404 page.
Allowlist by email address — one-time password (OTP)
Keep your Foleon Doc secure by only granting access to certain email addresses. If we recognize an email address, an email with a one-time access link will be sent. This link is valid for one hour and can only be used once.
Enter multiple email addresses quickly by pasting comma-separated values. Don’t forget to republish this Foleon Doc if you add extra email addresses.
💡 You can enter up to 400 email addresses. For groups larger than 400, we recommend SSO-based access control.
Lead generation
This option is not mentioned in the Access control tab but also functions as an access method.
The lead generation access method allows you to design and trigger a pop-up with a native Foleon form or different Marketing Automation Platforms (MAP) forms. Visitors will need to fill out the form before they can continue reading the rest of your Foleon Doc.

Single Sign-On (SSO)
You also have the option to use Single Sign-On (SSO) for Foleon. This will let your audience access the Foleon Doc from a secure portal — helping to protect your content.
