With the 'Set as primary' toggle, you set the default Foleon Doc that visitors see when they navigate to the root URL of your project.
When visitors make a typo in the URL or visit a Foleon Doc in that project that is now offline, they will also be sent to the primary Foleon Doc. Furthermore, if there is no published Foleon doc in the project, visitors will be taken to a Foleon 404 error page.
💡 This feature was previously named Primary Publication, which you could find in the project settings.

How Set as primary works
With the Set as primary toggle, you set the default Foleon Doc that visitors see when they navigate to the root URL of your project. For example, when the root domain of your project is "ebook.yourdomain.com", visitors will be directed to the most recently created live (published) Foleon Doc in this project, which is the default behavior.
If you have set a Foleon Doc to be the primary, a green indicator will appear in the thumbnail of your doc.
The default behavior
If this toggle has not been enabled on any specific Foleon Doc, visitors will be directed to the most recent published Foleon Doc in this project, which is the default behavior. After having set one Foleon Doc to display as the primary doc in that project, you can revert back to the default behavior by switching off "Set as primary" for that particular Foleon Doc.
Best practice: make a content hub Foleon Doc
Set as primary enables you to share the general root domain of your project, and direct your visitors to the correct content. This also means that you can create a one-pager that functions as a content hub, with an overview of your most inspiring content.
In the example below, you see an example for some inspiration. Some design tips to keep in mind:
-
Keep it simple - Disabling the navigation bar can be a great way to keep it simple. You can also think about disabling the page navigation arrows if you stick to just one page.
-
Screenshots - Make screenshots of your most popular content, and link it to the corresponding Foleon Doc. Add a shadow to the images to make them stand out more.
From Primary publication to Set as primary
The feature Set as primary was previously named "Primary publication", which you could find in the Project Settings. As opposed to the old workflow, republishing your Foleon Doc to set the primary is now not needed anymore.
