What is a Brand Kit?
With the brand settings, you decide on styling that applies to one Foleon Doc. To govern your brand styling across multiple Foleon Docs, you build a Brand Kit. Depending on your plan, you can create multiple Brand Kits.
With the Brand Kit, designers can pre-set fonts, colors, and element styling. With these brand guardrails, creators get off to a flying start independently — worrying less about making brand slip-ups.
How do you make use of your Brand Kit? 🤔
-
New Foleon Docs — When you create a new Foleon Doc from scratch, the styling settings from the Brand Kit will automatically apply.
- Existing Foleon Docs — You can apply the Brand Kit to existing content in the brand settings.
- Templates — When you create a new template from scratch in a workspace with a Brand Kit set, the styling is automatically applied to the template. This applies to page templates, block templates, and overlay templates.
-
View modes — You can create a brand kit for each view mode (desktop, tablet, and mobile). Please note that changes in the desktop view mode will impact all view modes, while changes made in the tablet view mode only affect tablet and mobile. Changes made to the mobile view mode only apply there.
How to create your Brand Kit
As an admin or designer, click the Brand tab in the dashboard. Next, click create Brand Kit to start building.
💡 Some plans can create multiple Brand Kits.
You’re now in the Brand Kit builder. By default, the brand drawer will be open. This is where you edit and save style elements like fonts, buttons, and text links.
💡The default font sizes, as set in the Brand Kit, are a good starting point. However, you might want to adapt them so they fit your content. Learn more here.
To check your styling, click brand to close the brand settings and see what your page looks like.
Once you’re ready with building, click create. You can now apply this styling across all your Foleon Docs. Once you’ve created your Brand Kit, it will be available for your workspace.
If this is the first Brand Kit you create, it will be used as the default. If you have multiple, you can change the default.
💡 From the moment a Brand Kit has been created, you'll see that the brand settings of new Foleon Docs will have the styling settings from the default Brand Kit.
From this point forward, all newly created Docs will start with these brand styling settings — including content you create from a Foleon template. A new Brand Kit won’t be applied to existing Foleon Docs.
You can always edit your later. Your changes won’t apply to Foleon Docs where you’ve applied the Brand Kit.
If you delete your Brand Kit, everything will stay the same in existing Foleon Docs that applied this Brand Kit.
Having multiple Brand Kits
With multiple Brand Kits, designers and content creators can switch between them to ensure content adheres to the desired brand style.
💡 Only select plans can save multiple Brand Kits, with a maximum amount for each plan. If you're interested in this functionality, get in touch with our Customer Success Management team.
Some plans can create multiple Brand Kits. Depending on your plan, there is a maximum amount for your account. If you're working with multiple workspaces, the maximum amount counts across workspaces.
For example, account Acme. Inc. has three workspaces and has reached their maximum amount of 5 Brand Kits:
-
- Workspace 1 (Sales): has 3 Brand Kits
- Workspace 2 (Marketing): has 1 Brand Kit
- Workspace 3 (Human Resources): has 1 Brand Kit
In the brand section of the dashboard, you can view the Brand Kits that have been created for your workspace. If you want to change the default, click settings.
In the settings drawer, you can change the name of the Brand Kit and the default.
Once you set the default and click save, newly created Docs will start with these brand styling settings. This Brand Kit won't be applied to existing Foleon Docs.
How to apply a Brand Kit to a Foleon Doc
All newly created Docs will start with the styling settings of your default Brand Kit.
If you want to apply the Brand Kit to an existing Foleon Doc, open the brand settings, select a Brand Kit, and click apply Brand Kit. In doing so, you’ll overwrite the current brand settings' styling and change how your Doc looks. You can’t undo this.
Elements that have been styled individually on the canvas won't change when you apply a Brand Kit.
💡 Not sure whether your Doc is aligned with the brand identity? Simply click apply Brand Kit to set the correct brand settings.
If the apply Brand Kit button is greyed out, this can mean two things:
- Brand Kit has yet to be set in the dashboard.
- The Brand Kit has already been applied, or the current brand settings already match the Brand Kit.
When saving a Doc as template, it won't use the Brand Kit, but rather save the brand settings that were created for this specific Doc
